During the last few years, this annual STS event has developed into the main congress for tunnelling experts in Switzerland, originally evolving from the AlpTransit congresses.
There are annually around 800 experts from 15 nations attended the high-quality presentations and additionally enjoyed the traditional excursions to large construction sites within Switzerland and the surrounding area which took place.
Due to the current situation (COVID-19), this year's Swiss Tunnel Congress will be held as a webinar. Despite the unusual situation, we have succeeded in putting together an interesting and varied programme. A balanced range of Swiss and international tunnel construction projects, most of them involving Swiss know-how, guarantees an exciting exchange of technical experience. Currently, numerous large tunnel constructions are in the planning or construction phase in Switzerland. With presentations on the tunnels Gotschna, Albula II, Bypass Lucerne, LEB Lausanne, RBS Bern and Ligerz you will be impressively informed about the current status of these projects. You will also learn about the FCC project at CERN. European large-scale projects such as the second main S-Bahn line in Munich, the Koralmtunnel, the High Capacity Railway Milano-Genova, Grand Paris and Mont-Cenis Tunnel are further highlights.
The sequence of the congress and colloquium is as follows: The video of the recorded congress will be available on the FGU website on 3 June 2020 from 08:00 a.m. (duration approx. 6 hours) and will then be accessible for over a month. The colloquium will be streamed on 3 June 2020 from 13:00 hrs and will be available afterwards, also as a video, on the FGU website. The Q&A session following the colloquium will be broadcast live. During the stream you can submit your questions via the form on the FGU website. Participation in the entire online event is free of charge. The title of this year's colloquium is "Innovations in the construction of tunnels". Accordingly, this year's edition of the STC is also an "innovation", as we will be conducting it purely digitally for the first time in its long history.swisstunnel.ch
