AFTES 2026: Three Days of Innovation, Collaboration and Underground Expertise
Amberg Engineering looks back on a successful AFTES 2026 Congress, held from 12 to 14 October in France.
Under the theme “New Challenges, Underground Solutions,” AFTES 2026 brought together international experts to exchange knowledge, explore innovative technologies and discuss the future of underground infrastructure, providing Amberg Engineering with a valuable opportunity to showcase its expertise and strengthen relationships with clients and partners.
Amberg Engineering's experts contributed to the AFTES 2026 congress programme with presentations highlighting our expertise in underground urban planning, digital innovation and railway infrastructure.
Brice Gaudin and Oumaima Sedrati shared insights into the new underground railway connection between Geneva Central Station and Geneva Airport, focusing on engineering challenges in a demanding urban environment.
Yannick Fessler showcased the collaborative work of Amberg Engineering and TRACTEBEL on the integrated 3D modelling of the Grand Paris Express Line 15 West North project, highlighting the importance of digital collaboration in complex underground projects.
Antonia Cornaro presented “The Invisible City: Energy Infrastructure as a Strategy for Urban Futures,” co-authored with Jimi Dellenbag, exploring the role of underground energy infrastructure in sustainable urban development.
Aymeric Geoffroy presented an e-poster on the design of the direct-line tunnels between Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds, demonstrating our expertise in railway tunnel design.
Together, these contributions reflect Amberg Engineering's commitment to innovation, technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the international tunnelling community.
Beyond the technical programme, AFTES 2026 provided valuable opportunities to connect with clients, partners and industry colleagues, exchange ideas and explore future collaborations.
A special highlight was the apéritif hosted at our booth, where we invited clients, partners and friends to raise a glass and celebrate Amberg’s 60th anniversary together.
A successful AFTES 2026 reaffirmed the importance of bringing people, knowledge and technology together to shape the future of underground construction.
A big thank you to the AFTES organisers, our fellow presenters, project partners, clients and everyone who visited us in Lille. We return inspired by the conversations, proud of our team's contributions and excited about the opportunities ahead.
