Grand Paris Express – Line 15
Engineering The Future of Urban Mobility
Amberg Engineering is contributing to the construction of the western section of Line 15 of the Grand Paris Express in France, between Saint-Denis–Pleyel and La Défense stations, as part of the NGE-Webuild-Equans consortium for Société des grands projets (Project Owner).
The western section of Line 15 forms part of the Grand Paris Express, one of the largest urban transport infrastructure projects currently under construction in Europe. The new metro line is a key component of the future Paris orbital network, designed to significantly improve mobility across the Île-de-France region by connecting major suburban hubs, including Bécon-les-Bruyères and Saint-Denis–Pleyel.
The project comprises approximately 7 km of double-track underground tunnel, four new metro stations and six service structures. Construction is taking place in a highly constrained urban environment characterised by complex geological conditions and sensitive surface infrastructure. The alignment passes beneath the Seine twice and interfaces with existing railway networks, requiring precise engineering design and advanced monitoring solutions throughout construction.
Within the consortium, Amberg Engineering contributes its specialist expertise in underground engineering, tunnel design and construction planning. Its scope includes detailed tunnel studies, the development of a 3D hydrogeological model, and the design of connecting adits to the tunnels. Amberg Engineering also providing digital engineering solutions, including GIS-based tools for data integration and visualisation, together with concepts for monitoring and instrumentation systems to support safe and efficient construction.
Scheduled for completion in 2031, Line 15 will form a central part of the Grand Paris Express and contribute to the creation of a fully automated metro orbital network around Paris. By enhancing connectivity and reducing travel times, the project will play an important role in the transformation of the region’s public transport network and support more sustainable urban development.
