In construction lot H53 (Pfons–Brenner) of the Brenner Base Tunnel, work on the interior fit-out is progressing steadily. Particularly impressive at present is the concreting of the inner lining, which is gradually transforming the previously excavated tunnel into a durable and highly precise civil engineering structure.

In parallel with the ongoing tunnelling work in the main tunnel tubes and cross-passages, the final reinforced concrete structures are being constructed in the area of the cross-passages, the central gallery and the southern section. This makes the transition from the construction phase to the future railway tunnel increasingly visible.

As part of the design consortium, Amberg Engineering is delighted to be working alongside Lombardi Engineering Group, Müller and Hereth Engineering, OBERMEYER Infrastruktur and hbpm Ingenieure GmbH to help shape this European infrastructure project for our client, Galleria di base del Brennero – Brenner Base Tunnel BBT SE.

Many thanks also to ferrt-technic GmbH, which has provided us with crucial support in the reinforcement design.

With a total length of 64 km, the Brenner Base Tunnel will in future form the most important north-south rail link through the Alps and make a decisive contribution to the sustainable shift of traffic onto rail.
